Mr. Alvin Donald “Bear” Anderson age 75 of Old Forge Estates Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Friday April 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Mr. Anderson was born on Feb. 24, 1941 the son of the late Huey Alvin Anderson and the late Ilah Mellie Taylor Anderson.

He was a lifelong resident of Towns County. Bear was a member of Atlanta Local #225. He loved teaching his grandchildren the necessities of life, such as shooting a gun, shooting a bird and shooting the breeze. He loved cracking jokes and pulling pranks. He was a great narrator of his own life and would always bring a laugh to the Receivers of these stories. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Collin Aubrey Lee Williams, sister, Lorretta Anderson, brother, Robert Wayne Anderson, nephew, Mitchell Anderson. Bear was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Anderson are his loving wife of thirty years, Kathleen Bradshaw Anderson of Hiawassee, four daughters and sons in law, Angelia and Tommy Matheson of Blairsville, Andrea Anderson and Charles Lindemuth of Hiawassee, Arleen and Michael Carroll of Hayesville, Alisa and Pete Griffith of Hayesville, eleven grandchildren, Alisha (David) Burrell, Jammie (Dave) Galli, Candice (Adam) Williams, Misty Lindemth, Jessica (Victor) Shiflett, Ilah (Stephen) Shiflett, Sgt. Donald (D.J.) (Emily) Anderson, PFC Tylor Matheson, PFC Donald (Destine) Lindemuth, Brandon C. (Megan) Shiflett and Jeremiah Lindemuth, nephew, Michael Anderson of Hiawassee, niece, Teresa Anderson of Young Harris, eleven great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Due to the current deployment of a grandson, the celebration of life service will not be held until Sunday May 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Towns County Civic Center in Hiawassee with the Rev. Glen Eller officiating. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital of Chattanooga in Mr. Anderson’s memory.
